Carl “Carlito” Hernandez
Chief Officer of Wishes and Lifestyle (OWL); Co-Founder; President
As Chief Officer of Wishes and Lifestyle (OWL), Carl “Carlito” Hernandez brings hands-on technical mastery and an infectious enthusiasm to Vista Supports. A RESNA-certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), Carl is the person who makes technology actually work in the real world.
Carl built the first remote support center for IDD services in the DMV region and trained its first remote support team. When a sensor needs configuring, an integration needs troubleshooting, or an engineer needs to hear what’s actually happening on the ground, Carl is on the call. He installs and configures every Vista Link and Xandar Kardian deployment, ensuring that what works in theory works in practice.
His background as a natural technology tinkerer means he can make any system sing. But Carl’s real gift is translation. He teaches staff who are intimidated by technology how to use it confidently. He shows remote support teams not just what they’re seeing on screens, but how to affect change for the person they’re supporting. Known for making technology fun and relatable, Carl embodies the Fritos and Eggs philosophy: make something great out of whatever talent you have.
He leads the Remote Support Coaches and Technology Navigators team, ensuring personalized technology plans move from paper to reality.
Steven “Stevo” Simms, MSN, MBA, RN
Chief Heart of Innovation (CHIO); Co-Founder; Vice-President
As Chief Heart of Innovation, Steven “Stevo” Simms brings 30 years of clinical nursing expertise to Vista Supports. The “heart” in his title is literal: his career began in cardiology, where he learned that the most acute care settings rely on technology to monitor patients, not staff standing bedside around the clock. That insight shapes everything Vista does.
A Registered Nurse with dual Master’s degrees in Nursing and Business Administration, Steve holds the Certified Developmental Disability Nurse (CDDN) credential through DDNA and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). This combination of clinical depth and business acumen makes him uniquely qualified to bridge the gap between traditional healthcare and enabling technology.
Steve’s mission is making nurses comfortable operating in remote support and enabling technology environments. He helps clinical staff understand how health tech, age tech, and medical monitoring integrate with IDD and senior living services. When a nurse asks, “How do I become a remote nurse?” Steve has the answer. When an assisted living administrator wonders how enabling technology fits into their care model, Steve translates clinical requirements into technology solutions.
His focus on senior care, assisted living, and rural health represents a strategic opportunity: small-town facilities and nursing homes need what Vista offers but often lack access to big-city resources. Steve is the bridge to that market. He leads the Remote Care Nurses team and ensures that enabling technology implementations meet healthcare standards while preserving the human touch.
Ricardo “Richie” Castiblanco-Moreno
Maestro of Inclusive Innovation
As the Maestro of Inclusive Innovation, Ricardo “Richie” Castiblanco-Moreno brings the heart of an educator and a global lens to Vista Supports. Based physically in Bogotá, Colombia, Richie ensures that the organization’s perspective extends far beyond its U.S. headquarters, recognizing that the IDD and senior communities are part of a shared, global experience.
Richie’s work is grounded in the belief that language can liberate or limit a culture. With a strong educational foundation from Universidad Libre, he helps ensure that Enabling Technology (ET), Assistive Technology (AT), and Remote Supports (RS) are accessible not only in availability, but in understanding. His approach challenges long-standing cultural narratives where care has long been equated with sacrifice, reframing technology as a tool for autonomy, dignity, and shared responsibility.
By translating innovation both culturally and linguistically, Richie helps ensure that global communities are included in the audience and the opportunity. While Vista Supports operates within the U.S., his work reinforces that its vision for equity, education, and care knows no borders.
